About Us

Welcome to Catching Light Family Photography, a Family and Pet photography studio located in Folsom, California. We are a father/daughter team. Justin has been a professional photographer for over 30 years. As a homeschool parent of 14 years to four amazing daughters, he loves children and teaching. It does not mean he does not have an adventurous side as he loves adventuring including cage diving with great white sharks.

Anita has assisted her father for the last 4 years and is currently attending college to get her degree in journalism and photography. She has worked for several different photography studios over that time doing Pet and Portraiture photography. In addition her work can be seen in Style magazine and she has been an active press member shooting professional sports including the Athletics baseball team. 

Anita has a lot of interests including playing racket sports (especially tennis) and is an avid F1 car racing fan. She speaks fluent Russian, and is always eager for new and exciting adventures.

Justin started his career before digital (both Justin and Anita can shoot film). He went to college in Los Angeles and was a cinematographer and a motion capture artist in the film industry. He also started the graphics department for Jewelry.com in the late 90's before moving to Sacramento (he grew up in Grass Valley). Upon moving to Sacramento he open a successful wedding photography studio that he ran for 25 years. 

Teaming with his daughter to start a new studio was too awesome of an opportunity to pass up. We bring a creativity and passion to the family portrait industry that is both unique and exciting. We also wanted to offer simple and complete photo packages to our clients that does not rely on upselling or pressure sales techniques. We believe in treating you the way we would like to be treated.
